Taiwan’s representative to Canada, Harry Tseng, says he has no details about the missing person but two rescued Canadian tourists don’t have serious injuries.

Late Wednesday, the disaster management command center said the search for 42 hotel workers on their way to Taroko Gorge, a national park, was a major focus for them.

At least four people were believed to have died and nearly 60 were injured on Wednesday due to a powerful earthquake in Taiwan that caused extensive damage to numerous buildings and triggered tsunami warnings reaching Japan and the Philippines before being lifted. Officials stated that the earthquake and subsequent strong aftershocks were the strongest to hit the island.

According to the Japan Meteorological Agency, a tsunami of up to three meters was anticipated to reach Japan’s southwestern coast later on Wednesday morning.
