The planning minister of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Judith Tuluka, has been appointed as the country's first woman prime minister, according to the state television. She is an economist and takes over the position from Jean-Michel Lukonde after President Felix Tshisekedi's successful re-election on December 20. Tshisekedi won with 73.47 percent of the vote, and the election was mostly peaceful.
