The number of students residing on the Okanagan College campus in Kelowna will increase by more than two times at the start of next fall, as a result of new developments.
The three-day gathering, which is taking place at three locations, started Friday evening and ends Sunday afternoon.
The non-profit Rise Memorial Foundation says it is moving into the tendering and administration phase of the project, and it's close to reaching the fundraising goal of $200,000.
“Bear was the smartest cat, the smartest animal, I’ve ever had and I just wanted his genetic material to continue on ad infinitum,” said Kris Stewart of Kelowna, B.C.
The city plans to allocate $170,000 to update aging irrigation infrastructure at Rotary Beach Park.
The event called Making Waves for Autism aims to raise $25,000 for Autism Canada and its programs for those in need.
“We have very expensive horses and we’re a bit concerned about the damage they’re causing to the water table and what the horses are ingesting,” said John Wright.
“Our aim is to encourage our riders to park correctly and ride safely,” said company spokesperson Jacob Tugendrajch.
