A strong rainstorm on Sunday caused great damage in Sango-Ota, in the Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area of Ogun State, leading to more than 40 communities losing electricity. The storm brought down electricity poles and cables, causing traffic disruption on the Sango-Ota highway on Sunday afternoon. The Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company verified the incident and urged residents to stay away from the broken poles and cables.
The Niger State Commissioner for Power and Renewable Energy, Bashir Yerima, stated that all the Electricity Distribution Companies in Nigeria have let down the people. The Federal Government had instructed the distribution companies to produce, distribute and transmit electricity to all areas of the country after the National Electrical Power Authority did not fulfill its responsibility.
