Azania Omo-Agege, who is currently acting as president of the Nigeria Boxing Federation, has offered positive comments about the boxers' performance at the 13th African Games in Ghana, according to a report by PUNCH Sports Extra. Out of the 11 boxers led by coach Tony Konyegewachie to the Games, 10 received medals, resulting in Nigeria securing a total of eight gold and two silver medals.

The Nigerian hurdler, Tobi Amusan, won the women's 100m hurdles at the African Games in Ghana with a time of 12.89 seconds. She faced a false start at the beginning of the race, which could have led to her disqualification. However, the officials decided to go easy on her and issued her a yellow card instead.
