WILKES-BARRE — The Wilkes-Barre Cavalcade of Jazz was held May 3 through 5, with an opening ceremony and headline performance at the F.M. Kirby Center for the Performing Arts. Weekend performances were scattered throughout downtown venues including Bank & Vine, Cafe Toscana, The Vault, Senunas’, Abide Coffeehouse, The Stegmaier Mansion and more. Here are some snapshots, courtesy of the Kirby Center, of just some of the festival’s many memorable moments.

Director Luca Guadagino, who directed two films I loved before, such as “Call Me By your Name,” and “Bones and All,” is back with his latest and possibly best project so far. It's a very sensual tennis drama that is quite steamy, not referring to any specific pasta brand.

WILKES-BARRE — The Diamond City Partnership (DCP) has declared the comeback of the Sunsets on South Main (SOMA) Happy Hour Series, which will bring music and community spirit to the streets of Wilkes-Barre. Starting on Thursday, May 16, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the lively Midtown Village, 41 S. Main St., this year’s series guarantees to be even better than previous years.

The F.M. Kirby Center for the Performing Arts hosted its fundraiser Kirby Fest on Saturday. This all-inclusive event featured local beer, wine, cider, spirits and food tastings, live entertainment, local artist displays and a silent auction with signed memorabilia from Kirby stars. Proceeds benefit the F.M. Kirby Center’s community outreach and children’s programming, which provide local children a chance to experience the performing arts free of charge.

WEST WYOMING — I recently dined at Sicilian Bella Festa for dinner and it was a delightful experience all the way through. If you're not familiar with their setup, it's a fun and nostalgic place where you order from the window. They have plenty of colorful tables and umbrellas for you to enjoy your food, and a wide menu that also includes ice cream. This time, however, I focused on the pan-fried pizza.

In this review of the Luzerne County Pizza Trail, we were fortunate to have two individuals who tasted the food at The Dough Company on separate occasions.
