The Nigerian Meteorological Agency and the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria officials have discussed teaming up to improve sustainability practices by businesses in Nigeria.
The head of NiMet, Prof. Charles Anosike, requested a strong partnership with the FRC on Monday,
The NiMet leader made the request during a visit to the Executive Secretary and CEO of FRC in Abuja, Dr. Rabiu Olowo, according to a statement from PUNCH on Monday.
He stated, “Climate change is becoming a priority for financial regulators. The work we do at NiMet through our weather and climate reports is the basis for sustainability practices. This collaboration will help NiMet and FRC to develop capabilities together.”
Olowo told the NiMet leader that there are opportunities for alignment between both organizations to fulfill their main objectives.
He also highlighted potential areas of collaboration such as sustainable reporting and climate risks and opportunities.
Olowo mentioned, “There are opportunities for alignment between NiMet and FRC in fulfilling their main objectives, particularly in sustainability reporting, climate risks, and opportunities. While we champion sustainability reporting, FRC also promotes sustainable practices among Nigerian organizations.”
Some directors and senior staff from both organizations were present during the visit.
