The government of Anambra State has closed hotels and other business buildings because of concerns about the environment and because they did not obey court orders.
Celestine Anere, who leads the OCHA Brigade, said that they closed the hotels and leisure centers because they were not following the environmental laws in the state.
Anere said that they acted because people complained about how bad the environment was near the businesses.
He said that not following the environmental laws is a big and ongoing problem that is hurting the environment and the natural balance.
He said that there are now more teams to help people report environmental problems in their communities.
The government has a strong policy against pollution and wants to support the vision of a clean, green, and healthy state.
Most of the affected businesses were in Awka and nearby areas.
They closed the buildings after giving them court notices for some weeks.
