Only one major Marvel movie is being released this year, and Scarlett Johansson's husband expressed his displeasure about it on this week's 'Saturday Night Live.' So, he gave a strong warning to the studio during Weekend Update.
We're referring to co-anchor Colin Jost, who has been married to Johansson since 2020. The concern he raised was not about providing for the family but something else entirely.
During the headlines segment, Jost mentioned that 2024 is the first year since 2009 without a Marvel movie kicking off the summer season. (In fact, as mentioned earlier, the studio will only have one major release this year: 'Deadpool & Wolverine').
Jost humorously stated, 'This better be a one-time thing because many people rely on Marvel movies to pay for the ferries they bought.'
For those who don't know, Jost did indeed purchase a ferry boat back in 2022. He and former castmate Pete Davidson bought the boat together for $280,100 and have joked about the decision regularly since.
Evidently, the duo was 'very stoned' when they made the decision to buy the boat, originally with the intention of turning it into a party boat. However, in 2023, Davidson mentioned that they haven't really done anything with it.
At the 'Transformers: Rise of the Beasts' premiere, Davidson expressed uncertainty about the boat, saying, 'Me and Colin were very stoned a year ago and bought a ferry. And we're figuring it out… Hopefully it turns into a Transformer and gets the f— out of there so I can stop paying for it.'
'Saturday Night Live' is aired weekly at 11:30 p.m. ET on NBC.
