At least two individuals were said to have been killed while three others were taken captive when bandits assaulted the Danbar-Dikko community in the Illela Local Government Area in Sokoto State.
The alleged bandits who targeted the village in Danba ward also set fire to the residents' homemade food supplies, storage facilities, and other belongings valued at millions of naira.
A witness disclosed that the bandits fatally shot two individuals and kidnapped four women in the community.
The Sole Administrator of the Local Government, Sahabi Wakili, who verified the incident, also criticized human rights organizations for their indifferent approach in ensuring justice prevailed.
Wakili highlighted that this marked the bandits' second assault on the village, resulting in numerous casualties.
The community claimed that the raid on the Dambar-Dikko was orchestrated by a Fulani bandit led by the group's prominent gang leader known as Kachalla Bube.
He mentioned, 'The so-called human rights organization were in the habit of addressing security challenges pertaining to Bube and his associates.
'They prioritise providing the suspects with legal and humanitarian assistance while denying such rights to other community members.'
Attempts to contact the spokesperson for the Nigerian Police Force, ASP Ahmed Rufai, proved unsuccessful as his phone was unresponsive at the time of reporting.
