The Ooni of Ife's palace said a man in a viral video claiming to be the monarch's son is not telling the truth.
The monarch’s spokesperson, Moses Olafare, stated that the man in the viral video was pretending to be someone he is not and that the matter has been reported to the authorities.
Olafare emphasized that Oba Ogunwusi is a responsible father and knows all his children and will take full responsibility for them.
The palace declared that the man claiming to be a prince is not recognized by the palace or the Ile-Ife community, and is not related to the Ogunwusi royal family.
In a statement, the palace strongly condemned the impersonation and emphasized that the Ooni knows and takes responsibility for all his children.
The statement clarified that the Ooni acknowledges all his children and takes responsibility for them, both in Nigeria and abroad.
The statement provided details about the Ooni’s known children and their activities.
The impersonation is considered a serious offense and will be dealt with accordingly.
The palace will make every effort to ensure the perpetrator faces the consequences of his actions.
The palace urged the law enforcement agencies to thoroughly investigate the matter and bring the perpetrator to justice as soon as possible.
The palace called for any individual with useful information about the impersonator to cooperate with the authorities and promised their identity will be protected and rewarded. Enough is enough.
Olafare also asked the impersonator to stop taking part in or promoting such misleading actions, ensuring that the House of Oduduwa is dedicated to protecting the Yoruba people's cultural heritage and will not accept any effort to weaken or damage its history through dishonest methods.
