The Golden State WarriorsAfter missing the playoffs, the Warriors could consider trading Jonathan Kuminga to take advantage of Stephen Curry's remaining prime years.
However, ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne dismissed the possibility of trading Kuminga and disclosed the level of interest in doing so.
Shelburne said on 95.7 FM’s The Game that there is no interest in trading Kuminga at all. Shelburne mentioned that the situation could become complex due to Kuminga's contract talks and financial considerations, but she believes the Warriors will make every effort to retain him.She also emphasized the team's other trade assets and good young players, in addition to Kuminga, as well as the trade value of Chris Paul's contract.
Shelburne discussed potential trade assets that the Warriors could offer instead of Kuminga.
“The Warriors have a strong set of assets, including other young players, draft picks, Andrew Wiggins, Gary Payton II, and attractive contracts. Additionally, they have Chris Paul, whose contract is appealing to many teams. The Warriors could keep him or use him as a valuable trade asset.”
Although Kuminga may stay with the team, the Warriors need to carefully consider their options regarding his future.
Jonathan Kuminga was mentioned in a proposed trade
While it seems unlikely that the Warriors will trade Kuminga in the near future, ESPN’s Zach Lowe mentioned a trade scenario involving him. The proposed trade would involve Kuminga and former Warrior Kevin Durant.Lowe suggested a trade that would bring back former Warrior Kevin Durant.
On his podcast “The Lowe Post,” Lowe talked about the possibility of Kevin Durant rejoining the Warriors in a trade involving Kuminga and other younger players. Bobby Marks, Lowe's guest, explained the other players that would need to be included in the trade. Bobby Marks mentioned Andrew Wiggins as a key component and suggested including a combination of Kuminga, Brandin Podziemski, and Moses Moody.
The Phoenix Suns have made the playoffs both times Durant has been with the team, but have fallen short of winning a championship. If they decide that it’s not worth keeping him, Kuminga could be their most valuable trade asset.
