A former House of Representatives member, Shina Peller, refuted claims of him ignoring the Minister of Power, Bayo Adelabu, at a recent event in Lagos State on Tuesday.
Peller, who served Iseyin, Itesiwaju, Iwajowa, and Kajola Federal Constituency in Oyo State in the 9th Assembly, clarified this in a statement he posted on his social media platforms on Tuesday, and also provided it to journalists in Ibadan, the state capital.
The statement was in response to a recent social media video apparently showing a so-called snub by Peller towards the minister.
He thus dismissed the claim, presenting a video showing himself and the minister embracing and warmly greeting each other at the event in question.
The statement included the following, “I want to address a recent circulating video alleging a snub of the Power Minister, Adelabu, by myself.
“It's necessary to clarify that the snub allegations are baseless. The Minister and I have a respectful relationship, and I did greet him at the said event. The sharing of this video seems to be driven by ulterior motives. Adelabu knows the accusation is unfounded because I greeted him.
“Additionally, I want to stress the importance of greetings in my religion as a Muslim. Greeting others is considered an act of charity in Islam, and I prioritize extending greetings to individuals on every occasion. This goodwill gesture reflects my values and principles in interactions with others. I never ignore people, regardless of the situation or my relationship with them. “
Peller, who vied for a Senate seat in the 2023 elections under the All Progressives Congress, switched to the Peoples Democratic Party.
