The Pittsburgh Steelers may have swapped out left tackle Dan Moore Jr. with their 2024 first-round pick. Due to this, The 33rd Team’s Ari Meirov suggested that Moore might not even start the season with the Steelers.
Meirov labeled Moore as one of nine players who could be unexpectedly released or possibly traded this summer.
“Dan Moore Jr. has played in 49 games over three seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers. However, his time as a starter might be over following the selection of Troy Fautanu,” wrote Meirov.
“Moore has faced challenges, but Pittsburgh may think about keeping him as a backup. This is his final year under his rookie contract.”
Moore has been the starting left tackle since the beginning of his rookie year in 2021. He has only missed 1 start since then.
The Steelers drafted Moore in the fourth round of the 2021 NFL draft. However, for the last two seasons, Pittsburgh has chosen an offensive tackle in the first round of the draft.
2023 first-rounder Broderick Jones took over the second half of last season at right tackle while Moore stayed at left. 2024 first-rounder Troy Fautanu could replace Moore at left tackle, or Fautanu might start at right tackle with Jones switching to the left side.
