Shri Chandramouli Kern, the Indian Consulate-General to Nigeria, has shared his hopes for improved relations between India and Nigeria, especially in providing good healthcare services.
Kern revealed this at the introduction of StarCare International Hospital, a prominent provider of primary and speciality care operations in Ikeja, Lagos State, on Monday, while ensuring India’s dedication to supporting Nigeria in various efforts.
He mentioned that the establishment of the hospital in Lagos signifies a significant development in Nigeria’s healthcare landscape.
The event was attended by the monarch of Ikate Kingdom in Surulere, Oba Lateef Adams; the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Fayoade Adegoke, and President, Indian Cultural Association, Mr. Sanjay Jain.
In his comments, the Chairman and Managing Director of StarCare International Hospital, Dr. Ashraff Mohammad, promised to enhance the healthcare system in Nigeria.
This includes introducing advanced medical facilities and cutting-edge technology, as well as a team of internationally trained and experienced doctors from India and Nigeria.
He mentioned that surgical procedures such as minimally invasive surgeries, laparoscopic surgeries, laser proctology surgeries, and laser spine surgeries would have a great impact improving the healthcare system.
He also highlighted procedures such as endoscopic spine surgeries, cosmetic gynaecology surgeries, weight loss surgeries, and sports medicine procedures—services that are uncommon in the country.
However, he assured Nigerians that skilled consultants would always be accessible at the hospital to ensure continuous access to quality care and service.
He conducted a tour of the facility, displaying its state-of-the-art infrastructure, including the Outpatient Department (OPD) complex, inpatient wards, private rooms, ICU-NICU complex, OT complex, and labour rooms.
“By raising the quality of care to international standards, we aim to reduce the need for Nigerians to seek medical treatments abroad in countries like the USA, UK, or India.
“StarCare is set to be a cornerstone in Nigeria’s medical landscape, ensuring that top-tier healthcare is accessible to everyone here at home,” he said.
Meanwhile, Lagos CP, Adegoke commended facility and expressed readiness of partnership between the hospital and Lagos police command in area of healthcare provision.
