Warner Bros. Animation experienced a major reorganization, announcing on Monday that the general manager Ed Adams is retiring. Matt Matzkin, who is currently in charge of business operations and production for Warner Bros. Unscripted Television, will take over his responsibilities when he leaves in September.
In addition, Bobbie Page, the head of production at Warner Bros. Animation and Cartoon Network Studios, will also be leaving the company.
Adams spent 15 years at Warner Bros. Animation and held positions as EVP and general manager for Warner Bros. Animation, Cartoon Network Studios, and Hanna-Barbera Studios Europe.
He started his career in Hollywood as a lawyer at DreamWorks Animation, where he was the head of legal affairs for projects like “Shrek 2,” “Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas,” and the TV series “Father of the Pride.” Later, he moved to Cookie Jar Entertainment before joining Warner Bros. Animation in 2009. He was promoted to SVP and GM in 2015, and in August 2020 took on Cartoon Networks Studios, followed by the addition of Hanna-Barbera Studios Europe in 2021.
Matzkin began his current role in 2023, overseeing the business side for Warner Horizon, Telepictures, and Shed Media. He will continue to manage unscripted content and will now report to both president of Warner Bros. Television Brett Paul and president of Warner Bros. Animation, Cartoon Network Studios, and Hanna-Barbera Studios Europe Sam Register.
