The Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) has started reducing the tariff from N225 per kilowatt-hour to N206.80 per kilowatt-hour for band A customers within its area.
This change happened because the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) told them to lower the tariffs for band A customers.
In response to complaints about tariff increases, the National Assembly told the commission to get involved.
Mrs Busolami Tunwase, the Lead of Media Relations at IBEDC in Ota, Ogun, said the new tariff is effective from May 4.
“Customers with prepaid metres will pay the new tariff of N206.80 per kilowatt-hour when they purchase electricity this month.
“For postpaid customers, the new tariff will show up in their electricity bills at the end of May 2024,” she said.
Tunwase also said that the tariffs for bands B, C, D, and E will stay the same.
She assured customers that IBEDC is fully committed to providing better service across their franchise.
The areas covered by IBEDC include Oyo, Ogun, Osun, Kwara, and parts of Ekiti, Niger, and Kogi.
Previously, the Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company lowered the tariff for its Band A customers to N206.80 per kilowatt-hour from the N225/kWh approved by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission.
The IKEDC spokesperson, Olufadeke Omo-Omorodion, announced this on Monday.
According to the announcement, the lower tariff for Band A customers will start on Monday, May 6, 2024. (https://punchng.com/just-in-ikeja-disco-slashes-band-a-tariff-to-n206-80-kwh/)
