The Yekini Adebayo, the head coach of Niger United HC, has promised to win all his games at the beginning of the Ardova Handball Premier League 2024 in Benin, Edo state, which starts on May 12.
Niger United was the men’s champion at the 2023 Ardova Handball Premier League in Lagos.
Yekini mentioned to www.aclsports.com that the team is wrapping up preparations for the initial phase and has made replacements for a few players who were signed by other teams.
He explained, “Niger United HC is a team that values actions over words. The coaching staff is working hard to secure 11 wins in the first phase. Last season, we surprised most teams with our performances; we almost defeated former champions Kano Pillars but ended up with a draw.
“We are in the final stages of our preparations and the players are in top form. Each training session is taken seriously and will be reflected in the game play during the league. Niger United believes in developing processes and I want to inform you that we have obtained replacements for some of our players who received better offers from other clubs.
“Niger United will never prevent any player from joining other clubs because we believe in growth. Some of our past players have gone on to secure foreign deals, which shows we are doing something right”.
The former Niger United player stated that his team will not underestimate any team in the first phase.
He stated, “I have warned my players not to underestimate any match because every team wants to beat the champion. We have a lot at stake while other teams want to overthrow us as quickly as possible. Niger United has won the title twice since the league was reinstated under Sam Ocheho as President; we want to win it for the third time.
