The head of Luzerne County Transportation Authority, Bob Fiume, stated that LCTA owes its existence to its riders.
Fiume mentioned that they wanted to express their gratitude to the riders through some kind of gesture.
From May 6 to 10, LCTA will acknowledge and appreciate its passengers for using the bus system. This event, known as 'Rider Appreciation Days,' is a statewide initiative in partnership with the Pennsylvania Public Transportation Agency and other transit agencies in the state.
Just like many other transit agencies in the state, LCTA is providing its customers a free ride on Wednesday to show appreciation for their consistent use of the service.
Fiume expressed their ongoing appreciation for the devoted riders and highlighted the critical role of public transportation in the community. He emphasized that it is crucial for commuting to work and school, medical visits, grocery shopping, recreational activities, and various other places.
Fiume emphasized the importance of transit in Pennsylvania's economic prosperity.
PPTA Board Chair Sheila Gombita acknowledged the riders' reliance on public transit for everyday needs like work, education, healthcare, and leisure activities, expressing gratitude for their strong dedication to this mode of transportation.
