The show 'Night Court' is coming back for another season.
NBC announced on Friday that the series led by Melissa Rauch has been renewed for a third season. Melissa Rauch stars as judge Abby Stone, presiding over the night shift of a Manhattan arraignment, with original cast member John Larroquette returning as former night court district attorney Dan Fielding.
After starting in January 2023, 'Night Court' had its first season. The second season of 'Night Court' started in December 2023 after the Hollywood strikes.The workplace comedy is currently NBC's most-watched primetime comedy in both total viewers and the 18-49 demo. Season 2 has reached 24 million viewers across linear and digital platforms to date.
Marsha Warfield, an original cast member, returned to the sitcom at the end of Season 1 and played her role as Roz again in the Season 2 finale, where Roz got married to her fiancé, Loretta (Indira G. Wilson).
The Season 2 finale aired in late March and ended with a significant cliffhanger, as Abby started dating Jake (Ryan Hansen) and found out that Dan might be the biological father of the man.
Melissa Rauch said in a March interview with TheWrap that they are very excited to explore and resolve the mystery presented at the end of Season 2. Rauch told TheWrap in a March interview that they were all thrilled with the idea of leaving Season 2 with that fun cliffhanger.NBC has renewed 'Night Court' along with other series like 'Chicago Fire,' 'Chicago Med,' 'Chicago P.D.,' 'Law & Order,' and 'Law & Order: SVU' for the 2024-25 broadcast season.
The cast of 'Night Court' also includes India de Beaufort, Lacretta, and Nyambi Nyambi, who joined the Season 2 cast after the departure of series regular Kapil Talwalkar from Season 1. The show 'Night Court' is produced by Warner Bros. Television in association with After January Productions and Universal Television, and it is executive produced by Rauch, Larroquette, Dan Rubin, and Winston Rauch. The series led by Melissa Rauch and John Larroquette has reached 24 million viewers across linear and digital platforms to date.
In addition to Rauch and Larroquette, the cast also includes India de Beaufort, Lacretta and Nyambi Nyambi, who joined the Season 2 cast after Season 1 series regular Kapil Talwalkar exited the show.
