A court hearing will happen this morning for the man accused of shooting a 20-year-old man in Edwardsville on Thursday evening.
Erik Reyes Jr., 17, who was arrested without incident, will have the preliminary arraignment at the Luzerne County Courthouse.
According to a news release from Pennsylvania State Police, Reyes will then be held at the Luzerne County Jail after the arraignment.
State Police stated that this was a suspected isolated incident and there is no danger to the public regarding this investigation.
Around 6:15 p.m. on Thursday, Edwardsville Police responded to the Eagle Ridge Apartment Complex on Beverly Road in Edwardsville Borough for a reported shooting. Police reported that a 20-year-old victim was shot in the abdomen by Reyes after a disturbance, and Reyes fled the scene.
Police said that the victim was taken to Geisinger Wyoming Valley Hospital by ambulance and is in critical condition.
The shooting was recorded on a surveillance video system within the complex. The Troop P Criminal Investigation Unit took the lead investigative role at the request of the Luzerne County District Attorney, and a Major Case Team Activation was initiated.
A search warrant was executed at the residence, and Reyes was taken into custody. Reyes is facing charges as an adult for Attempted Homicide, Aggravated Assault, and firearms violations.
