PLAINS TWP. — Wilkes-Barre Connect is going to hold the HONOR Veterans Recognition Luncheon at 11 a.m. on Monday at Holiday Inn Wilkes-Barre East Mountain, 600 Wildflower Drive.
This event is being put on by Perfect Storm Renovations and will honor the local veteran and veteran entrepreneur community.
The luncheon will be a time to gather and celebrate the accomplishments of veteran entrepreneurs in the Wyoming Valley and promote a connection among the Northeast Pennsylvania veteran network.
Michael Hawkins, President and CEO of Netizen Corporation, will be the keynote speaker this year. The event's keynote sponsor is PNC.
Three veteran entrepreneurs from the Wyoming Valley will receive grants to advance their business ventures, including:
• Michael Szklanny, author of “The Shadow Within,” a fantasy novel and the first part of an upcoming three-part series.
• Amber Viola, founder and co-host of “Politics but make it Fashion,” a podcast that explores the intersection of politics and fashion, discussing how clothing style trends can reflect and impact political and social issues.
• Vincent Balint, owner of Bulldog BBQ, a catering business and roadside stand that will soon be building a brick-and-mortar location.
Geisinger is the sponsor for the Veteran Entrepreneurial Award.
The program is part of Wiles-Barre Connect’s HONOR Program, supported by the Robert H. Spitz Foundation.
The event is open to the public. Free tickets are available for active-duty personnel, and discounted tickets for veterans are priced at $35, while standard tickets are $40.
