The leader of the All Progressives Congress asked unhappy candidates from the Ondo State primary to support Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa for the November 16 governorship vote.
He also shared his experience of losing the Kano governorship election and encouraged the aspirants to see themselves as destined for success tomorrow.
Governor Usman Ododo-led Primary Election Committee declared Ayiedatiwa the winner on Sunday after voting across all 18 local government areas of the state.
However, the outcome was disputed due to alleged irregularities and violence at some polling stations.
As a result, Senator Jimoh Ibrahim and five other aspirants from Ondo South Senatorial District filed petitions contesting Aiyedatiwa’s win.
The other aspirants were Olusola Oke, Folakemi Omogoroye, Olugbenga Edema, Jimi Odimayo, and Wale Akinterinwa.
They also requested the cancellation of the governorship primary and a fresh vote.
At the party headquarters in Abuja, Ganduje urged the aspirants to reconcile and collaborate with Aiyedatiwa.
He expressed gratitude for their prompt attendance and acknowledged the emotional strain following the recent primary. Ganduje emphasized the need to move past the events and focus on unity.
Ganduje appealed to the aspirants, recognizing the diverse expertise and backgrounds in the room, and stressed the party's stake in the election.
He reminded them that the state and the party belonged to them, urging them to prioritize the party's success in Ondo State.
Drawing from his own experience of losing the Kano governorship election in 1999, Ganduje highlighted the need for patience and emphasized the aspirants' future success.
Fourteen of the aspirants who took part in the primary attended the peace meeting.
The National Deputy Chairman of the APC (South West), Isaacs Kekemeke, and Akinterinwa were not present.
