The Edo State Police Command's law enforcement officers have detained two suspects for purportedly abducting and robbing Imubhin Juliet, a pastor at Deeper Life Church in Benin City.
The police command announced this in a statement posted on their X account on Wednesday.
They explained that the suspects were apprehended by the command's crack team along Benin-Auchi road two days after the incident, acting on a tip-off.
According to the statement, on 14/04/2024 at approximately 0900hrs, Imubhin Juliet, a Pastor of Deeper Life Bible Church, informed that during a church service, three armed individuals entered the church with guns and robbed them of their valuables.
She also mentioned being abducted by these armed robbers and taken in her Toyota Highlander jeep to an undisclosed location, where they coerced her into revealing her ATM PIN which they used to withdraw her money.
On 16/04/2024, the command's crack team intercepted the stolen Toyota vehicle and the criminals on Auchi Road, based on the victims' report. The vehicle and their weapons were reclaimed from them.
One suspect confessed to the crime. I advise worshippers to be very observant and take note of anyone who appears to be a worshiper disguising themselves.
“Employ security personnel to oversee the church premises to prevent any unfortunate incidents.
