Demola Olarewaju, the Special Assistant for Digital Media Strategy to Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate for the People’s Democratic Party, called the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, 'the former emperor' of River State.
Olanrewaju said this while he labeled the Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, as the unchallenged leader of the Peoples Democratic Party in the state.
His taunts followed a rejection of Atiku and endorsement of Wike as the PDP national leader by a northern group.
Haruna Bature, who claimed to be the national chairman of the Arewa PDP Transparency Group, reportedly conveyed the views of the northern group in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.
The group stated that Wike has the ability to positively change the party’s situation.
However, this did not sit well with Atiku’s supporters.
They argued that Bature should not be taken seriously, pointing out that he previously served as the coordinator of the 'Rotimi Amaechi Vanguard' and recently switched to Wike’s camp.
In a recent post on his verified account, Olanrewaju mocked Fubara while praising him, saying that Fubara has removed the former state governor as the emperor of Port-Harcourt.
He referred to Wike as 'the former emperor' who had been 'uprooted' by Fubara.
“Good morning this morning, to Governor Sim Fubara, the undisputed Grand Commander of our PDP Forces in Rivers state.
“You have uprooted the former emperor from Port-Harcourt and turned him into an internally displaced politician, seeking solidarity from strange places,” Olarewaju wrote.
