Professor Toyin Falola, a distinguished scholar and historian, was given the title of Doctor of Letters (D.Litt. – Honoris Causa) at Usmanu Danfodiyo University in Sokoto, Sokoto State.
The university's 38th, 39th, 40th & 41st combined convocation ceremony on April 20th, 2024, included the recognition of Prof. Falola's contributions to academia.
Before honoring Prof. Falola and others, the vice chancellor of Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Prof. Lawal Suleiman Bilbis, highlighted the significant contributions made by the awardees.
Also receiving awards with Prof. Falola were His Royal Highness Alhaji Nasir Ado Bayero (Emir of Bichi) and Sheikh Mallam Mohammadu Bello Na-Mallam Boyi.
Prof. Falola expressed gratitude on behalf of the honorees for the recognition from the institution’s management.
He vowed to provide support to the institution.
He also encouraged the graduates to apply the knowledge they acquired at the institution to their future endeavors.
Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto is 49 years old.
Over 4,000 graduates were granted degrees and diplomas during the combined convocation ceremony.
