The National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure and the Nasarawa State government appear to have finalized plans to start a tractor manufacturing plant in Lafia, the capital of the state.
Apart from the engineering company, a sector of Saint Bob Motors Limited will also take part in the partnership.
This information was in a statement signed by the Director of Information for NASENI, Segun Ayeoyenikan and given to the PUNCH on Monday.
In line with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda of ensuring food security and promoting mechanised farming and agro-business in the country, the project aims to create wealth and jobs for Nigerian youths, as noted by the statement from Executive Vice Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of NASENI, Khalil Halilu.
During the visit, Halilu, while assuring the governor of NASENI’s readiness to engage in business with the state, mentioned, “The Agency is willing to partner with you and sign the memorandum of understanding (MoU) so that in the next couple of weeks we will move into action.”
In his remarks, Sule expressed his agreement with NASENI’s vision of collaborating and promoting made-in-Nigeria goods, adding that he believed the government’s role is to provide a level playing field necessary for businesses to thrive.
“The reason for his visit was to introduce the Bob Track Tractors, which is involved in assembling and manufacturing tractors and farm implements with offices in Port Harcourt, to NASENI to allow it to use the existing facilities at Amedi, Lafia for assembling of tractors instead of acquiring new land for the business,” said Sule.
The CEO of Bob Track Tractors, Ibifiri BobManuel, also stated, “We are prepared to take up the facility in Nasarawa State, create employment and wealth for the youths in the area, and also use it as a hub to drive the mechanised agricultural vision of the present administration with the help of His Excellency, his team, and NASENI.”
Also speaking, the CEO of Bob Track Tractors, Ibifiri BobManuel, said, “We are ready to take up the facility that you have in Nasarawa State, create employment and wealth for the youths in the area and also use it as a hub to drive the mechanised agricultural vision of the present administration.
“We are willing to invest in Nasarawa state with the help of His Excellency, his team and NASENI.”
