Netflix is returning to Annecy.
The streaming giant will be back at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival in France this June. Netflix will showcase a variety of content including the new animated movie “Ultraman: Rising,” a fresh take on the 1966 Japanese character; “That Christmas,” an animated feature by Richard Curtis; Zack Snyder’s upcoming “Twilight of the Gods” series; and the returning series “Arcane” and “Big Mouth.” They will also present Aardman Animation’s new “Wallace and Gromit” film, Skydance’s “Spellbound” and “The Twits,” an animated feature based on a Roald Dahl story.
The Next on Netflix Animation panel, featuring the Aardman team, directors Nick Park and Merlin Crossingham, will take place on June 12 and include a sneak peek at the untitled Wallace & Gromit film. Also, director Zack Snyder and executive producer Deborah Snyder, along with Xilam Animation Director Slimane Aniss, will unveil clips from the adult animated series, ‘Twilight of the Gods.’ The audience will also see material from ‘The Twits’ and Skydance Animation’s ‘Spellbound.’
The world premiere of “Ultraman: Rising” will also take place on June 12.
There will be work-in-progress sessions exploring the different production stages, including one dedicated to “That Christmas” with Richard Curtis, director Simon Otto, Nicole Hearon, and Justin Hutchinson-Chatburn discussing on Tuesday, June 11.
On Thursday, June 13, Making Of sessions will delve into the final creative processes of “Ultraman: Rising,” with Shannon Tindle (director), John Aoshima (co-director), Sunmin Inn (art director), Hayden Jones (VFX supervisor), Scot Stafford (composer), and the creators and cast of “Big Mouth” celebrating the final series.
The session devoted to “Arcane” will be on Wednesday, June 14, and will feature Showrunner Christian Linke (Riot), Scriptwriter Amanda Overton (Riot), Senior Concept Artist Arnaud Baudry (Riot), Director Bart Maunoury (Fortiche), and Producer Christine Ponzevera (Fortiche).
A Wallace & Gromit Exhibition will showcase some of the puppets from Aardman’s new film and celebrate these beloved stop-motion characters. Netflix has also provided the official synopsis for the new movie, which reads: 'Gromit’s concern that Wallace has become over-dependent on his inventions proves justified, when Wallace invents something that seems to develop a mind of its own…As events spiral out of control, it falls to Gromit to put aside his qualms and battle sinister forces – or Wallace may never be able to invent again!' smart gnome An exhibit featuring puppets from Aardman's new Wallace and Gromit film will be a highlight, and Netflix has also shared the official synopsis for the movie: “Gromit is worried that Wallace has become too reliant on his inventions, and it turns out he's right when Wallace creates a contraption that appears to take on a life of its own. As things start to get out of hand, it's up to Gromit to overcome his fears and confront dark forces, or else Wallace may never invent again!”
Also, "Blue Eye Samurai" and "Pokemon Concierge" will compete officially.
