The Minnesota Vikings have confirmed rumors that they want to trade for a QB in next week’s NFL draft, according to rival teams they've been calling.
ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported on a Sunday edition of “SportsCenter” that rival executives have informed him the Vikings are actively looking for a chance to move up. Fowler also mentioned that the same two quarterbacks’ names have continued to come up as Minnesota’s targets.
“I’ve talked to multiple teams inside the top 10 who say the Vikings have been calling around,” Fowler said, according to Joseph Zucker of Bleacher Report. “Even though the Vikings aren’t revealing who they’re looking at, they’re guessing it’s either Drake Maye or J.J. McCarthy as potential quarterback options.”

First, it's clear that getting a top-four prospect in this year’s draft is Minnesota’s top priority. There is a chance the
New York Giants could pick the fourth quarterback before the Vikings, in which case Minnesota might consider other players but this is not the preferred option, assuming Fowler’s report is accurate. Second, the Vikings either aren’t keen on Bo Nix Jayden Daniels of LSU or don’t believe the rumors that he could drop
to the Washington Commanders or another team where they might be able to trade up and pick him. Alex Ballentine of Bleacher Report argued on April 20 that Minnesota should not select Daniels if he falls to them or try to trade up for him. Ballentine’s reasoning is Daniels’ supposed lack of arm talent. “His athleticism and willingness to stay in the pocket when necessary gives him potential. But … [his] arm talent might be his downfall,” Ballentine wrote. “The Vikings need a quarterback who can pass to Justin Jefferson

If they’re going to give up a lot of picks to enter the top four, it should be for someone who can fully utilize their receiving team.” Vikings are under a lot of pressure to solve uncertainty about their QB this offseason., Head coach Kevin O’Connell (right) of the Minnesota Vikings and former quarterback Kirk Cousins (left). and The Giants, or another team like the Denver Broncos
