A pastor named Olugbenga Olawore from The Redeemed Christian Church of God and other passengers of a 14-seater bus have been taken by force in Oyo State.
According to reports, the religious leader and other passengers were seized on Friday night at the Maya area of Lanlate-Eruwa Road.
The pastor was returning from Ipapo town, where he was finalizing the arrangements for his mother's burial.
SP Adewale Osifeso, the Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer, verified the abduction to journalists on Saturday, stating that some of the victims have been rescued.
The PPRO revealed that law enforcement, in partnership with local hunters and other security agencies, are working in the forest and surrounding regions to save the remaining captives and apprehend the culprits.
He mentioned, “Some of the rescued individuals are providing valuable information that could assist the investigation. All routes in the vicinity, including the nearby forest areas, are being thoroughly searched.
“The investigation is ongoing. Updates will be provided as appropriate.”
