Two individuals have passed away and one person was hurt in a crash on Friday at the Idogo Junction on Ilaro-Owode Yewa road.
At around 6 am, a Mitsubishi car with the license plate JJJ168JF and a truck with registration number T12224LA were involved in the accident.
Florence Okpe, the spokesperson for the state Sector Command of Federal Road Safety Corps, revealed this information in a statement provided to journalists.
According to Okpe, the Mitsubishi car was believed to be speeding and crashed into the improperly parked truck.
She also mentioned that the FRSC Ilaro Unit Command conducted the rescue operation, and the injured individuals and deceased have been taken to General Hospital and Hosanna Hospital, Ilaro.
The statement mentioned, “The FRSC Ilaro Unit Command carried out a rescue operation on the Ilaro-Owode route around Iyana Odogo due to a crash that occurred at about 0600hrs.
“The crash involved 2(two) vehicles; a Mitsubishi car with registration number JJJ854JH and a truck T12224LA
“A total of 07 persons were involved (04 Male Adults and 03 Female Adults), and 01 female got injured while 02 male adults were killed in the crash.
“The suspected causes of the crash were obstruction and Speed Violation. The injured victims and corpses were taken to General Hospital, Ilaro, and Hosanna Hospital, Ilaro”.
Okpe warned that the Corps would start cracking down on motorists who park indiscriminately on the road.
Meanwhile, Ogun Sector Commander of FRSC, Anthony Uga expressed disapproval of the high level of indiscriminate parking on road sides.
Uga has, therefore, instructed the Corp’s Marshall to begin routine checks on indiscriminate parking and anyone found doing so will face legal consequences.
He further advised motorists to drive within the specified speed limit and adhere to road regulations.
