SP Bright Edafe, the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, has advised Point of Sale operators not to give out as much as N2.5m to customers.
Edafe said that if it's necessary to give such a large amount, there should be a video recording of the customers and anyone with them.
Edafe shared this information in a post on his X handle on Friday.
He said, 'This is advice for POS operators. Giving out as much as N2,500,000 is risky, especially if they are accompanied by armed individuals who might be kidnappers, claiming it's business or whatever.'
“There was a case where kidnappers admitted to forcing their victims to transfer ransom money to a POS and then meet them to get cash.
“Do you say 'oh, it's my business and I am not guilty'? Avoid being implicated in a conspiracy.
“Anyone asking for that large amount should go to the bank for cash or do a transfer.
“Even CBN policy prohibits such large withdrawals. Are POS operators more powerful or knowledgeable than CBN? Even if you have to give the money, record a video of the so-called customers and their companions.
“If they have genuine intentions, they shouldn’t mind being recorded on camera.”
