Candidates who were supposed to take the 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination at Al-Mizyan Schools Computer Based Centre in Ikotun, Lagos State are currently unable to take the test because of technical problems.
Parents and guardians who spoke to our reporter by phone mentioned that the CBT center cited issues with connection cables as the reason for the problems.
A parent who spoke to our reporter anonymously said that after candidates waited for a long time, the CBT center suggested that candidates reprint their exam slips hoping that the exam would be rescheduled.
However, the parent noted that this did not happen.
“My son went to the center for the exam. He arrived at 8 am. Even people from earlier exam sessions at the center faced the same issue. They claimed that someone had disturbed the wire and told all candidates to reprint their slips. He did, but the exam time, date, and center remained the same.
“JAMBHQ students who were meant to take CBT exams at Al-Miyzan Schools CBT Centre in Ikotun didn’t take their exams. The center continued to make excuses and asked students to reprint the slips, but there was no change in exam date or center,” she said.
A sister of an affected candidate who also spoke to our reporter anonymously mentioned that the center had faulty equipment and should not be considered a CBT center.
“The computers are not functioning properly. It should not be an accredited center. Candidates for the first session (7 am) were unable to take the exam. The second session (9 am) has yet to take the exam by 11.30 am,” she said.
JAMB’s Public Relations Officer, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, confirmed that efforts are underway to ensure that all registered candidates take the exam.
JAMB scheduled the main UTME to take place from April 19 to 29, 2024.
