Donald Trump talked to reporters on Friday morning and said he couldn't speak to the media without realizing what he was saying.
Maggie Haberman shared Trump’s comments from outside the courthouse:
Trump spoke in the hallway before re-entering the hold room. Apparently without a sense of irony, he told reporters, “They’ve taken away my constitutional rights to speak and that includes speaking to you.”

If Trump’s right to speak is being taken away, then how was he able to stand outside the courthouse and speak to reporters?
Trump makes his own version of reality, and he thinks that if he tells a lie enough times, people will believe it. But just like the former president’s lie about the trial keeping him off the campaign trail, Friday's lie is obvious to everyone except Trump.
The Trump campaign hoped that the Manhattan trial would generate a lot of free media for the Republican presidential campaign, but as we finish week one of the criminal trial, https://www.politicususa.com/2024/04/18/trump-melts-down-outside-court-house-after-realizing-he-will-stand-trial.htmlthat hasn't happened.
Apart from Fox News and Newsmax, the media has quickly lost interest in Trump's one-man sidewalk performance, and the free media attention has instead come from Trump falling asleep in court.
The only thing Trump has gained this week is the nickname, Sleepy Don.
Trump will probably hold his one weekly campaign event with voters on Saturday. He continues his pattern of not campaigning that began in the Republican presidential primary, which is a continuation of his 2020 reelection campaign.
Donald Trump believes he can do, say, or make up any reality he wants because he expects to be handed the presidency. A man who has been given everything in life expects to be given 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue in November.
