With With only one victory in their previous nine Ligue 1 matches, Terem Moffi and his teammates at Nice have changed from being considered as potential choices for a UEFA Champions League position to being seen as less likely.
Nice remain in fifth place on the table after their goalless match against Reims on Sunday, trailing Monaco by eight points for the last UCL position with six games left.
After their 2-1 loss to FC Nantes at the Allianz Riviera last weekend, goalkeeper Marcin Bulka hinted at a crisis in the Nice dressing room as he passed through the mixed zone.
“I don’t comprehend some behaviors within the team, we’ll address it in the dressing room, not in front of the camera,” he stated.
“I don’t know if it's collective; I’d say it’s about individuals. Everybody needs to reflect on their own commitment. Today, in my opinion, some of them demonstrated that they lacked that commitment,” the Polish international added.
Following these remarks, there was a slight amount of disapproval from Captain Dante and manager Francesco Farioli directed at Bulka, but the plea for unity was more forceful.
“He is a player who really engages with emotion and energy. If he noticed something wrong, maybe we all needed to see it. We all understood. We are closer than ever. Maybe he shouldn’t have expressed it publicly, but he is sincere. We haven’t taken it negatively,” Dante stated on Friday before their match against Reims.
“Emotions were intense. The only thing I can criticize is the timing and the location,” Farioli added.
French player Jean-Clair Todibo also shared the sentiment of unity in his post-match interview with Prime Video Sport.
“A group should stay united. Marcin and I discussed it. It has been resolved. He is a competitor, like everyone else. He was overwhelmed with emotion. He made a ‘mistake’, if you can call it that, but we don’t hold it against him and we are all in this together,” the France international stated.
Nice will aim to regain their form in their upcoming game against Lorient on April 19.
