Authorities were telling people to stay away from the area so that emergency workers can do their jobs safely.
The fire happened while Parkland County next door was under a fire restriction.
In the county, open burning fires or major burn operations are not allowed. Fire permits are cancelled and no new permits will be issued.
However, safe fires in approved fire pits, burn barrels/incinerators with screens, as well as gas/propane stoves, bbq’s and portable fire pits are still allowed.
