Nigeria’s Super Falcons have secured their spot in the football competition at the 2024 Olympic Games following a 0-0 draw in the second round of qualifiers against South Africa in Pretoria.
By winning 1-0 in the first leg in Abuja last Friday, Randy Waldrum’s team earned their place with the same overall score.
In contrast to the first leg, the Falcons were kept on the defensive by the home team, who were eager to score.
During the second half, goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie pulled off a series of saves to maintain Nigeria’s chances of making their first Olympic appearance since 2008.
They will face tough competition against Spain, Japan and Brazil in group C when the games kick off in the French capital.
The Olympics will take place from July 26 to August 11, 2024.
