The top officer in the army, Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, asked soldiers all over the country to work even harder in the current battle against insecurity in the nation.
Lagbaja mentioned that their work in the fight against terrorism, banditry, and oil theft has been recognized and motivated the troops to work even harder.
The Army Chief made this statement to congratulate Muslims on the Eid-El-Fitr celebration on Tuesday.
In the statement, he said, “I want to take this chance during this celebration to recognize and thank you for your continuous efforts in making sure that adversarial elements causing trouble in our nation are completely defeated. Your dedication and sacrifices in fighting terrorism, banditry, oil theft, illegal mining, and other criminal activities that threaten our country’s existence have not gone unnoticed by the government and the people of Nigeria.
“You all will confirm that the current government has, within available resources, kept its promise to prioritize the welfare of members of the Armed Forces and our families. The only way to respond to this is by increasing our efforts to create the right conditions for peace and economic prosperity for our people and our nation. ”
He urged the troops to work together with other security agencies and keep pushing towards achieving lasting peace in the troubled areas of the country.
The Army Chief guaranteed them that he would make their welfare a priority in return.
Lagbaja said, “I challenge you not to relax as we keep working with our sister services and other security agencies to carry out important government policies through successful operations and effective tactical actions.
“I promise to continue making your welfare a priority while maintaining the discipline and reward system that reflects the strong administration foundation of my command philosophy, which is to transform the Nigerian Army into a Well-trained, Equipped and Highly Motivated Force Towards Achieving our Constitutional Responsibilities within a Joint Environment’.”
