Renée Zellweger and Hugh Grant will reprise their roles in the fourth movie of the 'Bridget Jones' series, as reported by TheWrap.
Grant will play Daniel Cleaver again and Emma Thompson, who appeared in the 2016 follow-up 'Bridget Jones’s Baby', will also return. Chiwetel Ejiofor and Leo Woodall are also set to play supporting roles.
'Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy' is based on the Helen Fielding novel of the same name, and it follows Zellweger's character as she navigates life, work, family, and love as a 51-year-old single mother and widow who is now in a relationship with a 30-year-old man.
Michael Morris, the director of 'To Leslie', will direct the film. Tim Bevan, Eric Fellner, and Jo Wallett will produce the film through Working Title Films, while Amelia Granger and Sarah-Jane Wright will be the executive producers for Working Title Films. Fielding is also set to be an executive producer for the project.
Interestingly, the new film will have a global theatrical release, but in the U.S., it will go directly to the Universal streaming service, Peacock.
The 'Bridget Jones' series has earned over $760 million at the box office since the first film was released in 2001. Zellweger received an Oscar nomination for her role in the first film and has been nominated three more times, winning for her portrayal of Judy Garland in 'Judy' in 2020.
'Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy' will be available for streaming on Peacock on Feb. 14, 2025.
