ST. LOUIS — Alec Bohm hit a double that brought in a run during the 10th inning, leading the Philadelphia Phillies to a 5-3 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals.
Bohm's hit against Ryan Helsley (1-1) brought in Cristian Pache, and Bryson Stott followed with a sacrifice fly to give the Phillies an extra run, resulting in their third win in their last four games.
Gregory Soto secured his first save by getting the final three outs.
The Cardinals managed to score two runs in the bottom of the ninth off Jeff Hoffman (1-0), tying the game. Jordan Walker drove in the first run with a sacrifice fly, and Mason Winn's two-out single leveled the score at 3-all.
The comeback interrupted Phillies starter Spencer Turnbull's second consecutive scoreless performance, having allowed only two hits in six innings and striking out six.
Miles Mikolas, the starting pitcher for the Cardinals, gave up two runs and six hits in 6 2/3 innings.
Turnbull hasn't conceded a run in 11 innings pitched this season, following a five scoreless innings in his first Phillies appearance on April 2. These are his first two outings of at least five scoreless innings since his no-hitter with Detroit on May 18, 2021.
Turnbull handled a leadoff double by Nolan Arenado in the second and managed to strike out two batters to escape a difficult situation in the third.
The Phillies took a 2-0 lead in the fifth inning with four singles. Johan Rojas, who made a diving catch in center field in the first inning, and Trea Turner each had an RBI single.
Iván Herrera hit a home run against reliever Seranthony Domínguez in the seventh inning, bringing the Cardinals within one. Herrera's second home run of the season just cleared the left field wall after grazing the top of Marsh's glove.
