As Aaron Rodgers continues to face criticism in the NFL offseason, but his former teammate Marquez Valdes-Scantling has spoken up in support of him, discussing their time together on the Green Bay Packers.
In a recent interview with CBS Sports Radio’s Zach Gelb, Valdes-Scantling had only positive things to say about the New York Jets quarterback as a teammate.
“He’s one of the best you’ll find,” Valdes-Scantling said. “He cares more about his teammates than the game of football. I think that’s something people really don’t understand. People have this perception of him as a diva or self-centered, but that’s not true at all.”
Valdes-Scantling played alongside Rodgers for four seasons in Green Bay. While both players have moved on, MVS continues to speak highly of the future Hall of Fame quarterback.
Where Will Marquez Valdes-Scantling Play in 2024?
Although he has made significant plays throughout his career, it’s uncertain where Valdes-Scantling will end up in the future.
MVS was drafted by the Packers in the fifth round of the 2018 NFL Draft from South Florida. He earned a role as a deep-threat in Green Bay, leading the league in 2020 with 20.9 yards per reception.
The Kansas City Chiefs signed Valdes-Scantling to a three-year, $30 million contract in 2022. He performed well in the postseason that year, catching six passes for 116 yards and a touchdown in the AFC Championship game, leading the Chiefs to the Super Bowl.
MVS is currently a free agent after being let go by the Chiefs. He departed with two Super Bowl rings from Kansas City, but inconsistent performance and dropped catches led to their separation.
It’s now uncertain where Valdes-Scantling will end up next. He could potentially reunite with Rodgers on the Jets, but the team has already brought in Mike Williams as a veteran free agent. Other teams like the Indianapolis Colts or the Buffalo Bills may consider him as a potential deep threat in their offense.

As the future Hall of Fame quarterback continues to recover from his Achilles injury, he has continued to make headlines. In addition to controversial comments made on on The Pat McAfee Show,Rodgers was also rumored to be under consideration for a vice presidential nomination from Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
Rodgers most recently stirred up controversy after it was revealed that he was the NFL’s lowest-paid player in terms of performance-based pay. The system is intended to compensate players based on their base salaries and total playing time during the season. However, due to Rodgers tearing his Achilles just four plays into the season, he received a league-low $81.14 for the year.
Jets fans are eagerly anticipating what Rodgers can bring to the team in 2024. At 40 years old, Rodgers will have a new-look offense surrounding him this season. The offensive line has been revamped with free agent signings, and the team may still add another playmaker in the 2024 NFL Draft.
