The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control conducted a recent raid in Apapa, Lagos and nearby areas to address the distribution of unauthorized drugs by targeting drug sellers.
This information was revealed in a statement posted on the agency’s official account on Friday.
The statement mentioned, “NAFDAC’s Investigation and Enforcement Directorate recently carried out a specific raid on drug hawkers operating in the Apapa area and its environs as part of its ongoing efforts to fight the distribution and sale of unauthorized pharmaceuticals.
“Several hawkers were captured during the operation, and a variety of illegal drugs were seized, including aphrodisiacs, narcotic substances (such as tramadol), antibiotics, and over-the-counter medications.
“The total street value of the seized drugs is around N50m.
“The individuals arrested will face prosecution, and the seized drugs will be destroyed.”
