A federal investigation into interference in foreign elections is likely to examine the actions of the task force that oversaw and reported on potential dangers during Canada's last two elections.
The task force's purpose is to bring together security and intelligence agencies to protect against foreign intervention in federal election campaigns.
Task force members are anticipated to give testimony at the inquiry's latest public hearing in Ottawa on Friday.
Earlier this week, the commission heard from political party officials who were given confidential briefings by the task force in 2021.
They criticized those briefings for being too general and not specific, and claimed they were never informed about any active threats during the last election.
The commission is also set to hear testimony from Allen Sutherland, who acts as assistant secretary to the cabinet for the Privy Council Office.
