The Kogi State Commissioner of Police, Bethrand Onuoha, has given cheques totaling N39m to the 25 families of deceased officers on behalf of the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.
This information was in a statement released by the command’s spokesperson, SP William Aya, on Thursday.
He mentioned that during the cheque presentation on Wednesday, the CP revealed that “the action was part of the Group Life Assurance and Group Personal Accident Insurance Schemes aimed at enhancing the wellbeing of the families of deceased police officers and also providing support to police officers who were injured while on duty.”
The CP stated that the gesture was also meant to motivate other active-duty officers to be diligent.
“The Nigeria Police Force acknowledges the sacrifices made by the deceased officers and those who were injured in their efforts to protect the nation,” the CP stated.
He advised the recipients to use the money wisely for the benefit of their families.
