The Kitchener Rangers obtained a crucial come-from behind win on Tuesday night in Erie, defeating the Otters 4-3 in overtime.
Erie took an early lead as Sam Alfano scored his fourth goal of the series on the power play in less than four minutes into the first period.
Kaleb Smith increased the Otters’ lead by beating Rangers netminder Jackson Parsons at the 15:31 mark.
The Otters scored early in the second period as Dylan Edwards also scored his fourth goal of the series to give Erie a 3-0 lead before the Rangers rallied.
Shortly after, Kitchener forward Adrian Misaljevic scored for his team, with Antonino Pugliese adding a second goal for Kitchener about 10 minutes later.
The Otters led 3-2 going into the third period before Justin Bottineau equalized at the 8:56 mark of the third period.
The two teams couldn't resolve the game in regulation time but unexpected hero Bottineau once again came through in overtime for Kitchener.
After scoring only five goals all season, Bottineau scored his second of the game in overtime to lead the Rangers to victory.
Parsons performed well in goal for Kitchener making 40 saves to secure the win, while his counterpart Ben Gaudreau made 23 saves in a losing effort.
The victory puts the Rangers ahead 2-1 in the series and also allows them to reclaim home-ice advantage in their best-of-seven OHL playoff match-up with the Otters.
The two teams will face off again in Erie on Thursday before the series returns to Kitchener for Game 5 on Friday night.
