A person has died and around 600 people have been forced to leave their homes after a rainstorm hit the Iloko community in the Oriade Local Government Area of Osun State.
In March, it was said that people living and working in Iloko-Ijesa suffered significant financial losses due to heavy rainfall that caused great damage to the town and destroyed residents' homes.
In a statement posted on its X handle, the National Emergency Management Agency, along with Osun State SEMA and community leaders, reported on the assessment of the damage caused by the rainstorm in Iloko, Oriade LGA of Osun State.
The team, led by AZC Olanrewaju Kazeem, was warmly welcomed by Oba Akeem Ogungbangbe.
Oba and community leaders expressed gratitude for the prompt response and updated the team on the situation.
The assessment revealed extensive damage, including property destruction, loss of livelihoods, and one fatality. Over a thousand people were affected, and 600 were forced to leave their homes.
