Miramax announced on Tuesday that Jonathan Glickman will take over as CEO. This move coincides with Miramax buying Glickman’s independent film and TV studio, Panoramic Media.
While at Panoramic, Glickman produced movies such as “Creed 3” and “The Underdoggs” for Amazon MGM Studios, and worked as an executive producer on Netflix’s “Wednesday.” He is currently serving as an executive producer on Netflix’s limited series “Zero Day” starring Robert De Niro and Angela Bassett.
Glickman expressed his excitement about joining Miramax, stating that the studio is well-positioned to become the leading independent film and television studio in the coming years. He looks forward to joining Miramax’s dedicated team, alongside his partners at beIN and Paramount Global, and continuing the company’s tradition of creating unforgettable stories for film, TV, and more.
Glickman, who previously served as President of MGM’s Motion Picture Group, had been considered a strong candidate for the CEO position at Miramax for a long time.
Former Miramax CEO Bill Block left his position six months ago. Block had been with the company since 2017 and had led it through successful years, helping the brand regain prominence.
Block was appointed in 2017 after a competitive bidding process for the Miramax assets following sexual assault allegations against Miramax founder Harvey Weinstein, who has since been convicted of the crimes. In 2019, Paramount Global acquired a 49% stake in the company, valued at around $375 million.
Paramount President and CEO Brian Robbins expressed his excitement about Glickman taking on the new role, citing Glickman’s combination of creative and commercial instincts. He believes that Glickman will continue to build on Miramax’s recent successes and bring a new generation of successful films and series. He also expressed confidence in Glickman's ability to lead Miramax into the future.
