The Guelph Police Service has arrested someone for a serious assault at a home east of the downtown area.
Police and medical teams went to a home on Elizabeth Street near Huron Street on the morning of March 23. On that day, they found a resident with two broken arms and a broken leg from being attacked with a baseball bat..
The resident first said he was attacked outside the home after confronting two men looking at a vehicle.
However, investigators later found out that the assault actually happened inside the home while the resident was sleeping.
They say the resident’s teenage son woke up and tried to help, but one of the men pulled out a knife and pointed it at him.
The victim had to have several surgeries after being taken to the hospital.
Investigators managed to identify and arrest one of the suspects in the downtown area last Friday morning.
A 40-year-old man from Guelph is facing multiple charges and was kept in custody for a bail hearing.
The victim sustained two broken arms and a broken leg as a result of the attack on March 23.
