Cary Tarasoff has entered the competition for the position of mayor in Saskatoon, stating that the city has not been functioning properly.
“I’m not satisfied with the way the city has been managed,” Tarasoff stated.
He remarked that he doesn't just want to complain, but also wants to suggest alternative ideas and investigate the city's issues.
Tarasoff is not a new name to those who have participated in past Saskatoon municipal elections, as this is not his first mayoral campaign.
He observed that people in Saskatoon are paying for things through taxes or service fees, but the city's services are not improving.
“Yet there appears to be an increasing number of ambitious projects being highlighted.”
He cited the potential Downtown Event and Entertainment District in the city, expressing concern that money has been used to purchase land for a project that has not yet been approved.
“That money could have been used to reduce the tax burden and it’s really affecting people.”
Tarasoff stated that his main focus will be to manage the city’s debt and reduce spending.
