Isyaku Babale, 30, from Anguwan Dawaki in Bauchi Metropolis, was taken into custody by the Bauchi State Police Command for reportedly using a knife to fatally wound his brother.
SP Ahmed Wakil, the spokesperson for the command, announced this in a statement on Sunday in Bauchi.
The suspect was apprehended after the Divisional Police Officer, Township Police Station, Bauchi, received a report, and detectives were sent to the scene without delay.
The victim was quickly taken to Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Teaching Hospital, where a doctor pronounced him dead.
As a result, detectives launched a search for the suspect, who was captured near Kasuwan Shanu area of Bauchi metropolis.
According to Wakil, initial investigations indicated that the suspect used a knife to stab his older brother on March 31, 2024 at about 0400hrs following an argument between them.
Wakil added that the dispute began when the younger brother (suspect) asked his elder brother (victim) to stop using 'Sholi', a type of cold patch liquid, in their room due to its unpleasant smell.
After a heated exchange, both brothers began fighting. Shortly after, the suspect retrieved a sharp object, believed to be a knife, and stabbed the victim in the stomach.

Wakil mentioned that the state Commissioner of Police, Auwal Musa, has instructed a thorough investigation into the incident to uncover more reasons behind the suspect's actions before proceeding with legal action.
